Not (A)Eldar(i)...

So as promised I've painted some of the original Eldar range.

I went for a darker scheme than that I used on the earlier models, closer to the schemes used in the Rogue Trader rulebook, although keeping to the blue and red colours I'd previously used with pale grey weapons and blued metallic "chain".

I painted a full 5-men (or elf...) squad with a leader and lascannon.

They were mostly painted with Vallejo paints and blue wash, with a few Citadel (both old and more recent) and even one Humbrol paint.

Since they are all painted the same way I've only made close ups of the lascannon warrior and the squad leader.

Originally they came out a little more purple than I really wanted but a further blue wash seems to have solved this problem.

Now I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, unfortunately this means I much prefer them to my old scheme...

Oh well...

Till next time.

A Return to Oldhammer...

Due to recent events I've found myself with more free time of late and have used that to actually slap some paint on some figures.

So I've added a couple more members to my Star Trek themed Imperial Guard. One of them is just regular trooper, the second is to expand my options a little.

Originally these figures were painted to accompany my eponymous Rogue Trader. However I thought about also using them as more conventional (if poorly camouflaged) Imperial troops. As such they needed a leader as my Rogue Trader (the old Imperial Scout model) is a little too ragged in appearance and carrying too much xenos weaponry to fit the bill.

So the first figure is Commander Tzcherkoff for use as a commander when they have more loyalist tendencies, complete with Gold 'command' uniform.

Eventually I intend to form a five man command squad, possibly armed with bolters around him for now he has to make do with these two.

The other figure is a basic trooper to add to the main squad, painted in the same way as the earlier figures, complete with classic 'ray-gun' coloured lasgun.

And finally a terrible shot of the whole squad so far, still needs a couple more members to get a full 10.

Think I might paint a few classic Eldar next.

Till next time.

Sorcerous undertakings...

Hello again

As mentioned in my posts about old style battle report graphics I have done a little bit of painting recently. Not actually oldhammer specifically being a set of Heresy Miniatures fantasy sorceresses (formerly Spyglass figures I believe).

They may not be to some people's tastes but I was using them to practice skin, cloth and hair which they all have plenty of.

So the first figure was an trying to paint pale cloth colours and I also attempted to give a sort white/platinum blond hair.

I may have over emphasised her rear end...

The second sorceress was trying darker out colours and keeping up the racial diversity of my figures.
She is unfortunately looking to her left, due to my continuing struggles with eyes...

The last sorceress has a crystal ball that I wanted to try painting.
I'm fairly happy with how the crystal ball came out, although the photo is not great

Just about finished a pair of Imperial Guardsmen so once their varnished I'll be posting them as well.

Till then...
