A Happy New Year to Oldhammerers all!I managed a little bit of painting over the [INSERT HOLIDAY/CELEBRATION OF CHOICE] period and added a couple more models to my tally for the year just gone. These were a couple of Grenadier/EM4 scavengers that I still had lying around from a batch I bought a while ago.The rest of that batch ended up as members of my Broad Arrow Gang. These two however Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-48587667548524217172023-12-08T20:57:00.000+00:002023-12-08T20:57:08.861+00:00Balancing Terra...So... its been a while...But I have done some painting! This started with me considering my Star Trek inspired Imperial Guardsmen and wondering whether there were any any other opponents for them that could also draw inspiration from classic Trek. Two options came to mind. First Orks and Klingons, which do actually have a lot in common. However the original series Klingon uniforms are a rather Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-9056513598747836102023-03-07T17:45:00.001+00:002023-12-06T22:00:19.823+00:00It was my pleasure...This one is a bit of an oddity for me, not something I originally was planning on painting back when I started the blog. One of my original projects back then was my Cult of the Incandescent Astral Wyrm, visible on their own page linked above. The cult was deliberately a fairly generic possibly heretical religious cult from a backwater Imperial world, with no specific leanings towards any of the Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-4425839851191334072023-02-18T14:22:00.001+00:002023-12-06T22:00:58.807+00:00Beep Boop Beep... Hello once again Oldhammerers. As I mentioned in my last post I was working on the final member of the crew of the Perennial Sparrow. One major character from the source material was still missing, but no longer. It took me a while to find a mini that I wanted to use for this character. I finally settled on this robot from Lead Adventure miniatures, from their Astopolis range. The mini is Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-88942302082633657722023-01-28T14:46:00.001+00:002023-01-28T22:54:51.796+00:00It's not my fault... Hello once again fellow Oldhammerers...I've managed to crank out a couple of more figures recently, both for my "Astral Conflict" inspired project (which you may notice now has its own page on the blog).First up we have the second to last member of the crew of the Perennial Sparrow (I have the last one currently in the works, although I do have an idea for one more if I ever got my hands onCaptain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-13835528333865476212023-01-04T14:47:00.002+00:002023-01-04T14:47:19.421+00:00New Year, New Girl... Happy New Year fellow Oldhammerers! I spent some time over the festive period painting an addition to my Necromunda Escher gang. She's painted to match the rest of the gang with the black and blue parts tying them together but with more individuality in pants and hair colour. She wasn't originally planned to be particularly season appropriate but with the white hair and the present-likeCaptain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-17667857773860163952022-12-11T17:01:00.001+00:002023-12-06T22:06:41.310+00:00Civies and Commissariats... Greetings once again fellow Oldhammerers...I have managed to maintain some painting enthusiasm and painted up a couple of more figures to add to my (tiny) Imperial Guard force (now dubbed the Foederati MDCCIst, or "The Redshirts").First we have a boltgun armed trooper who will form part of Commander Tzerchov's Command section.Nothing too special here, just the same scheme I have used on allCaptain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-57293648078129395882022-10-29T15:02:00.008+01:002022-11-15T18:20:14.777+00:00Orktober Returns! I have once again returned from the wilderness to paint something Oldhammer related, this time I actually remembered that it was Orctober and have painted some Orks! This is also a first attempt to actually paint a whole unit (well mostly, I do intent to add some more members later) in one go... These are mostly models from the original Ork Raiders boxset including Thrugg's right-hand Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-69188862257613943112022-05-15T13:57:00.006+01:002022-05-16T21:13:48.329+01:00No Disintegrations... The wind whistles across the desolation, whipping up swirls of dust from things long undisturbed...A tumbleweed rolls into view, before slowly bouncing off into the distance..."Uhhh... Hello? Is there anybody out there?"So its, uhh, been a while...Been some time since I did anything Oldhammer related either. Greetings fellow Oldhammerers!Nothing painting wise to show at the moment I'm afraid (although I have painted some stuff, I just need to photograph the damn things), but recently I dug up the gang sheets from my old Necromunda campaign, and looking them over brought back some fun memories of games past. The campaign I played just involved me and my brother so whilst we each had our own gang Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-64937401842202404202021-04-17T14:41:00.001+01:002021-04-17T14:41:37.430+01:00Spaceballs! Oh s@*$ there goes the planet... After a bit of a break from mini painting I have been working more on my famous sci-fi franchise inspired scenario idea.I thought that Inquisitor Thrad needed some white armoured minions to complete his ensemble. I did consider using some Space Marines but I don't actually have many of those and had already used them in my other Inquisitor's (Tycho) retinue.Instead I settled on some of the Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-13043051670003146702021-02-20T14:28:00.000+00:002021-02-20T14:28:20.091+00:00More fortunate arrows... Greetings Oldhammerers!I've painted up a few reinforcements for my Broad Arrow Gang,These are all Scavengers from the old Grenadier range by Mark Copplestone, these ones acquired from Forlorn Hope miniatures.First up we have Bastille Vega.I attempted to get another brass studded arrow symbol on the stock of his shotgun, didn't come out quite so well as the others. This guy has an arrow Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-62005316366628205322021-02-17T16:01:00.000+00:002021-02-17T16:01:19.315+00:00Science Guy... Just a quick one this time, and not an Eldar. This time around another of the early Rogue Trader minis, Techpriest Zon, or as he was originally titled a Telepath.Went with a lab coat look for his clothing with a bit more steampunky technology theme for his various gubbins.Adds to my growing collection of non-combat types.I'm almost finished on some reinforcements for the Broad Arrow Gang whoCaptain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-19032054756641691842021-02-10T15:59:00.002+00:002022-05-01T20:47:29.266+01:00Ghost hunting... Welcome Oldhammerers...I have continued with painting Eldar in recent weeks with a couple of new minis.First up is one of the original Ghost-Warrior minis, the Assassin-class.Tried to get go quite dark with a high contrast highlight to give a shadowy feel, given they are supposed to be stealth troopers. The freehand Wraithguard rune didn't come out quite as well as I'd hoped. The second is Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-64390377683358582062021-01-31T14:27:00.001+00:002021-01-31T14:27:46.982+00:00Dragons of Old...Some time last year I made a post about reproductions of the battle maps for first White Dwarf Battle Report I encountered. This battle report was the origin of my general love of the Eldar in 40k (blasphemy to my normal fantasy preference for Dwarves...).It was also where I gained my love of the original Fire Dragon Aspect Warrior miniatures (not sure why since they were painted in a somewhat Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-20272879215788743242021-01-13T18:20:00.003+00:002022-12-11T17:06:48.087+00:0087 Colonists (or 4 at least...) Hello again. I missed out on Axiom's first Colony 87 kickstarter and although I backed the second (see my earlier posts) I didn't have the funds to splash out and get the first set as well. Now I've rectified that (partially) by getting these four from Crooked Dice and I spent my last week off work after Christmas to paint them up.First up the pilgrim. Then the trader. The Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-84970428810415237972020-12-30T15:55:00.008+00:002022-12-11T17:10:50.108+00:00Arrows of fortune... Greetings once again Oldhammers...I have managed to squeeze a few more minis before the turn of the year. This time they are a deliberate group, a new mini-faction for my Euphoria setting. Although they use many of the same colours on the models I haven't used a particular colour scheme for them. Instead tying them together with an Arrow emblem that all of them have in several places. So I Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-73888023408833503692020-12-27T16:47:00.002+00:002020-12-27T16:47:46.609+00:00Planetary immolation...Greetings fellow Oldhammerers, hopefully you have all had a good [seasonal holiday of choice].Due to the current moratorium on the traditional seasonal visits to sundry family members I have actually been painting some more miniatures.I have several in progress forming a new mini-faction or gang but I also painted up another of the old mercenary/adventurer ranges that I wasn't including in the Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-44113226588332915362020-10-11T13:57:00.001+01:002021-01-31T22:43:49.572+00:00Orctoberfest 2020So after a bit of a break from mini painting after my uncharacteristic burst of activity earlier on the year I have got back into it for Orctober...As is now traditional for me I realised what the month was without having come up with a clear plan on what I was going to do.Thus I decided to just paint the last power armoured Ork I had lying around (helped by the fact that he came attached to his Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-45162874935464708462020-08-31T14:55:00.002+01:002022-05-01T20:22:34.495+01:00Aren't you a little short for a Tempest Scion (or whatever it is they call Stormtroopers in 40k these days)...Anyway I've done some more painting on a number of minis since my last post.First up are the remaining members of my original Necromunda Escher boxset to go with the heavy I showed last time. And a group shot of the whole gang. But my main effort (getting back to the title) are three more of my Star Wars inspired models for my scenario idea. These three round out the faction including the crew of Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-14926917279860176992020-08-02T15:03:00.000+01:002020-08-02T15:03:02.832+01:00Odds and ends...I have taken a bit a of a break from my Sci-Fi franchise inspired models to paint a few odds and ends recently.Back when I started this blog I showed off a few re-touched versions of my Necromunda Escher gang, updated from their original slapdash paint jobs. I never actually got around to doing the rest of the gang box, so I'm currently putting that right. Three of the girls are still in progressCaptain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-39011723594238205562020-07-19T14:47:00.001+01:002020-07-19T14:47:57.661+01:00Human-Cyborg Disintegrations...Greetings once more...I've managed to complete another model in the past week. This one took a little bit of work but I'm pretty happy with how he/it turned out. This is another member of the crew of the Perennial Sparrow, commonly known to Hanz as "Goldenrod". It refers to itself as Zi'Phreap'Yoah when not willfully misinterpreting the orders it has been given. The definition on the right leg is Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-17859967278537680342020-06-29T18:32:00.004+01:002020-07-17T21:59:13.448+01:00Scoudrels and Scenarios...Following on from my sinister mostly bionic inquisitor I have painted a couple more models inspired by a certain series of "science fiction" films. These models and more that I have planned are part of a plan I've been formulating for a while. This involves a (possibly solo-play) Rogue Trader scenario that I actually might be able play, inspired by the aforementioned film series. This is partially Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-6675796427563465602020-06-21T15:58:00.000+01:002020-06-21T15:58:05.169+01:00Jabberwocky...I certainly seem to have found a rich new strain of motivation for Oldhammer of late and have managed to continue painting up more models.Although one of these is a bit of a cheat since it was technically already painted...The first is a old C29 Jabberwock, a model that I have had for years (and previously seen in a previous post) the reasons it was acquired are lost to the mists of time.It was Captain Smyrkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09275675175156008137noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5571846732348630282.post-74255155485963314772020-06-13T14:54:00.001+01:002020-06-13T14:54:59.058+01:00Final Arbitration...
So I finally tracked down one of the two remaining Adeptus Arbites that I don't have and decided to get it painted up to go with my existing Euphoria Precinct.
And so presenting Arbitrator Rhodes.
He's painted in the same way as all the earlier ones.
And the whole Precinct together.
The only one I need now is the second edition Champion.
Till next time.
