Conflagulations old friend...

I've been working on more models for my Inq28 project. This one has been done for a while but its just taken me ages to actually get around to photographing it...

This was an idea I originally had back in the day to make an Arco-Flagellant, combining a Warhammer Empire Flagellant head with a Vampire Counts Ghoul body. This idea has taken so long to reach gestation that those models have subsequently become Age of Sigmar Flagellants and Ghouls, and GW has even produced an actual plastic Arco-Flagellant kit (which did provide weapons for this model, I never actually decide on a source for these in my original concept).

The nature of the shoulder attachments of ghoul body (actually a 'Cryptguard', whatever that is...) meant that I needed to use the original arms and merge them with the Arco-Flagellant weapons which worked out quite well, I was even able to turn a tooth pushed through the skin of the upper arm into a attachment point for one of the cables.

I tried to make the areas where the flesh meets the tech look inflamed although it doesn't show up well in these photos.

This model also marks my first foray into Contrast paints on the hair.

This guy is currently designated Enoch-452, and will be part of Tamerlane Voth's Puritanical warband.

I've also painted up a couple of old Bretonnian archers. These another freebee that came with an old issue of White Dwarf (presumably during the release of the revamped Bretonnian army for Warhammer 5th edition).

These were originally painted years ago and this is just a touch up, although I did remove most of the mold lines my younger self was too impatient to deal with.

This was just a simple quick paint job to give some possible background minis for scenarios. I even went with Goblin Green bases (although not true Goblin Green, just a the Vallejo paint of the same name).

I have several other Inq28 models built but not yet painted as I'm currently working on a bunch of original Necromunda Escher.

Till next time...

Jabberwocky...

I certainly seem to have found a rich new strain of motivation for Oldhammer of late and have managed to continue painting up more models.

Although one of these is a bit of a cheat since it was technically already painted...

The first is a old C29 Jabberwock, a model that I have had for years (and previously seen in a previous post) the reasons it was acquired are lost to the mists of time.

It was originally painted in its somewhat eclectic colour scheme by my late elder brother and as such I didn't want to repaint it so all I've done is give it a few washes and some highlights (and a coat of varnish), eventually I'll probably mount it on an base once I have one of a suitable size.

Also painted this week was another Imperial Inquisitor. This one inspired by a certain other science fiction character. Although I bought the model especially for this purpose on seeing it up close I can't help thinking the designer may have also drawn inspiration from the same source...

Although not desperately visible in this image I painted the inside of his cloak a dark red just to reduce the amount of black on the model, for a similar reason I went with making the bionics metallic.

I'm currently working on Pilot Rav from the Adventurers range and Beast-Trooper Gaxt as a pair of roguish scoundrels.

Till next time...

Came in from the Cold...

So after a very productive time last month various outside commitments and a very stubborn cold have somewhat curtailed my hobby time this month.

But I have finished the first of my 'Champions of Law' which I mentioned earlier, the other one is still awaiting his shield but has recovered from his run in with the green wash.

Anyway here is Ukko, Priest of Law.

He is a 'Nordic Warrior Priest' from the old Clerics range, although he looks more medieval Russian than Nordic to me...

Also in the works are the second half of Axiom's Colony 87 range of sci-fi civilians to go with the ones I've already painted.

Still WIP at the moment but hopefully will get them finished off soon.

Till next time

From the back of cupboard they came...

So these are a couple of old school minis I've had for years, can't remember exactly when these were bought or indeed for what purpose given that I mostly played Epic at the time...

Anyway first up we have one of the original Slaanesh Keeper of Secrets variants.
For some reason this was never actually attached to its base, will have to sort that out...

It was originally painted by my brother so is better than most of my efforts from the same time...

Next we have a Jabberwock.
Displaying a particularly bright and chaotic color scheme...

and the hind end...
I also have three harpies, Bob Olley sculps I believe, again absolutely no idea why they were bought. The are however unassembled and unpainted so I didn't see much point in photographing them.

Anyway I've got a couple more Eldar Fire Dragons on the go to join the one I've already painted, oh and an original Death Jester undercoated so there should some more posts coming up soon.

Til next time.

The Small and Short of it...

So not much activity from me for, well too long really. Most of my hobby time has been spent on historical modelling projects of late.

However I have done some more on the last two minis.

The ork is mostly just some extra highlights on the skin and gun.

The Fire Dragon has a free hand Eldar rune added to the front of the helmet because it looked a bit bare, now that I've looked it up its not completely accurate but I'm fairly happy with it anyway.

And finally, in relation to the post title I have my first Fantasy mini for this project. I present Hewi Drakkenbak in all his dubious glory.

He is the Dwarf from the Warhammer Quest game and like my Eschers is mostly a retouch of an ancient shoddy paint job. If and when I do other fantasy stuff expect to see a preponderance of dwarves as I am a life long dwarf fan in almost all fantasy settings (must be something to do with being short...).

Until next time (which will hopefully not be quite so far in the future...).
