It was my pleasure...

This one is a bit of an oddity for me, not something I originally was planning on painting back when I started the blog.

One of my original projects back then was my Cult of the Incandescent Astral Wyrm, visible on their own page linked above.

The cult was deliberately a fairly generic possibly heretical religious cult from a backwater Imperial world, with no specific leanings towards any of the common cult types seen in the 40K universe. But I always intended to add some additional elements that could transform the basic cult into a definite Chaos or Genestealer cult.

Now I realise that in the original Genestealer cult list it was entirely possible to be both, but for whatever reason I don't particularly like the aesthetic of mixing the two. So I planned to add two separate groups of models that could be added to help turn it into either of those cult types.

Whilst the Genestealer elements are still planned for this post I've been working on the Chaos side of things. I decided to add some daemons to the mix, which is where the oddity comes in...

I've never been a particular fan of Slaanesh out of the Chaos Gods, and never planned to be painting any Slaaneshi Daemons. However the one daemon model I already owned was the original Keeper of Secrets model that had been bought and painted by my late elder brother (previously shown here). So it made sense to use that and add some lesser minions to aid this big boy.

I wasn't going to repaint the greater daemon as I wanted to preserve it in my brother's memory. So I needed to match the new models to the scheme he had used, unfortunately it was painted in original citadel paints, most of which I no longer have. So I've tried to match the colours as best I can with those I have available.

I'm really very happy with how the blue skin and red claws have come out on these, even if they don't exactly match those on the greater daemon.

Annoyingly I appear to have chipped the paint on one of the claws of this one, didn't notice till I took the picture.

I included the little daemonette familiar model as well.

And a shot of them all with their master for comparison.

That's all for now.

Till next time...

Human-Cyborg Disintegrations...

Greetings once more...

I've managed to complete another model in the past week. This one took a little bit of work but I'm pretty happy with how he/it turned out.

This is another member of the crew of the Perennial Sparrow, commonly known to Hanz as "Goldenrod". It refers to itself as Zi'Phreap'Yoah when not willfully misinterpreting the orders it has been given.

The definition on the right leg is better than this picture shows.

There are some green wires in his midsection that also don't show up here.

This was a freebie that came with White Dwarf back when the Necrons were first released that has sat in its blister pack for the last (god...) 22 years. I didn't find the Necrons particularly interesting at the time and thus didn't do anything with it. I finally found a use for it.

I even thought to take a few work in progress shots with this one.

Started out with a base grey

Then painted it silver, with some wash shading

Then brushed a vallejo bronze over the body and brass on the gun

In play Zi will be a Chaos Android harking back to the Necron's origins. I rolled up some random robot stats from the Rogue Trader book. I probably won't use the Compendium robot rules, given its actually a daemon, and I don't think they will work well in the confined spaces the game is intended for.

I wanted his gun to be something a little special without having to make up any new stats and not too powerful either. So I came up with the idea of randomising its effects.

Each time it fires roll a D6.
    1-2 - Fires as a Neuro-Disruptor.
    3-5 - Fires as a Graviton Gun.
6 - Fires as a Plasma Gun (doesn't need to charge up but cannot be fired during the next turn).

This gives it some weird effects and most of the time it won't cause any actual damage, but occasionally it will be very destructive.

Finally a quick group shot of all my "Astral Conflict" inspired models so far.

Till next time...

From the back of cupboard they came...

So these are a couple of old school minis I've had for years, can't remember exactly when these were bought or indeed for what purpose given that I mostly played Epic at the time...

Anyway first up we have one of the original Slaanesh Keeper of Secrets variants.
For some reason this was never actually attached to its base, will have to sort that out...

It was originally painted by my brother so is better than most of my efforts from the same time...

Next we have a Jabberwock.
Displaying a particularly bright and chaotic color scheme...

and the hind end...
I also have three harpies, Bob Olley sculps I believe, again absolutely no idea why they were bought. The are however unassembled and unpainted so I didn't see much point in photographing them.

Anyway I've got a couple more Eldar Fire Dragons on the go to join the one I've already painted, oh and an original Death Jester undercoated so there should some more posts coming up soon.

Til next time.
